About This Event
The Dublin City Triathlon is Ireland's largest city-centre triathlon — held on 22 August 2026 in the Phoenix Park, the heart of Dublin. Part of the Triathlon Ireland National Series, the 2026 edition offers Sprint, Try-a-Tri, and Aquabike distances (note: no standard/Olympic distance in 2026). Organised by Piranha Triathlon Club and sponsored by RDJ, it's one of the best-attended and best-supported races in the country.

What to Expect
The swim takes place in the Furze Pond within Phoenix Park — a controlled freshwater environment that feels safe and manageable. The bike course uses the closed roads of the park — flat, fast, and wide. The run loops through the park's avenues and open grassland. The entire race takes place within the park, which means spectators can see multiple stages without moving far.
The atmosphere is Dublin at its best: big entry fields, enthusiastic marshals, and a buzzing finish area. Piranha Triathlon Club has a strong reputation for event organisation. The Try-a-Tri option makes this one of the best first-triathlon experiences in the country — short distances, a safe swim venue, and a massive crowd cheering you home.
Who It's For
The Try-a-Tri is designed for complete beginners and first-time triathletes — no experience needed. The Sprint distance suits club-level triathletes and National Series competitors. The Aquabike (swim + bike, no run) offers an alternative format. Triathlon Ireland membership or ODM required. Note: no standard/Olympic distance is offered in 2026.
