About This Event

The Irish Summer National Youth & Senior Championships is the highest-level domestic swimming competition in Ireland — five days of 50m long-course racing at the Sport Ireland National Aquatic Centre in Dublin. The 2026 edition runs 21–25 July and determines the Irish Youth and Senior Champions across all Olympic events. This is where the country's top swimmers — from promising 15-year-olds to senior internationals — race for national titles.

What to Expect

The National Aquatic Centre provides the best competition environment in Irish swimming: 50m pool, electronic timing, full spectator capacity, and separate warm-up facilities. The format is heats in the morning, with Super Finals and A Finals in the evening. Super Finals feature the top events and carry the most prestige — these sessions have a genuine international-meet atmosphere. Evening finals are the highlight: packed spectator galleries, loud club support, and the reality that international selection decisions are being influenced in real time. Morning heats are more workmanlike — long sessions with multiple events. Livestreaming is standard. The meet runs to a tight schedule with experienced officials. For any serious competitive swimmer in Ireland, this is the goal meet of the season.

Who It's For

Open to Swim Ireland registered swimmers aged 15+ who meet the published national qualifying time standards for youth or senior categories. QTs are set at a high level — this is the national championship. Swimmers are expected to have qualified through provincial championships or other approved competitions. Swim Ireland club membership is required. International guest entries are accepted subject to criteria.
